Yet scientists think all quakes are unrelated. I bet the Pacific plate has been highly active these late years.
Actually, they just don't know how they are related or how to predict them with any level of accuracy.

That's all fine and well, but I just want a version that doesn't require X11 and can print.
Hmm ... can't see where you're coming from there. Prints for me and for a few other people I know.
I might give this a crack for a playabout.

A) You shouldn't base everything on the benchmarks.
B) Look at it this way. The base 27" is still the same cost as it was last week. But now you have a performance increase. I can understand being a little down that the performance wasn't as high as you expected, but unless you lost money by waiting, it's still a win.

So today, for no reason, my iphone (3gs) started having the following problems:
1) Coming randomly out of standby (like I hit the home button).
2) No function at all from home button.
3) Phone displays "Charging is not supported with this accessory" and related messages and problems even when nothing is plugged in.
4) Sound out of speakers is about 10% of normal volume, even when at max.
5) Phone will randomly enter "voice command"
Some of these problems come and go, and there's other miscellaneous issues, but these are the most prominent ones.
My phone is out of warranty, so I can't get it fixed with apple. I suspect it might have something to do with the charging end, I took some dust out of there but it didn't change anything.

The games cost the companies millions to develop on each platform, and it is their intellectual property in the first place. Adding DRM to someone else's music takes a push of a button.
Which costs tens millions to operate and to license. Keep in mind that it's not any given music service which elects to use DRM, it's the recording companies that insist upon it. The reason why Fairplay is relatively lenient compared to other schemes is that it is locked down to a narrow set of compatible devices. You can copy your music to any number of iPods, for example--which goes far beyond "fair use" under the law. Win some, lose some.
I don't get your logic there at all. As I've just said, DRMd media isn't the same as software. If I didn't want a dominant Sony Walkman 20 years ago, I bought a Panasonic and my tapes still played. If I decided my Philips DVD Player was rubbish, I could buy a JVC and the DVDs still played.
You bought into an available open standard. There were competing proprietary ones as well--just none as popular as CD or DVD. There is still an available open standard (albeit often at a higher price per track). The availability of more limited music doesn't limit you one bit. You chose the limited version over the unencumbered one because it was faster, easier, and/or more customizable.
As far as I'm concerned, anything I OWN, I should have fair use rights over, even if I wish to change the make of my player. Steve Jobs makes a big deal about us OWNING our music when we buy from iTunes. If I truly own it, I should have the right to use it how I wish. Which is it?
You do own the DRMed music file. You can use it without continued payment and without time limits. Ownership of the intellectual property of others has always been nuanced. There's ownership of content (lyrics, performance, etc. can all have different owners), of distribution (including licensing for public performance), of a license to the media (on a CD belonging to you or in a digital file under your control), and of course various forms of renting and leasing. When you buy music from iTunes (or any other pay-once service), you have indefinite (timewise) usage rights and control of that license. You do not, nor can Apple legally grant you, total control over the file.
If DRM is necessary, it should be interoperable between different manufacturers. The aim of it should be to prevent illegal copying, not allow vendor lock in.
There's nothing wrong with vendor lock-in so long as an easily attainable, universal solution also exists. Since you are not obligated to buy anything from iTMS if you own an iPod, there is no justifiable harm. What I would like to see is a service permitting you to assemble custom CDs from individual tracks (instead of being forced to buy entire albums) and lower prices from iTunes. Both of these require the recording industry to embrace the Internet, rather than fight it.

Does anyone have this sleeve for the 11" Macbook Air? I paid $39.95 for the Incase one from the Apple store and I don't like how tight it is and how you have to slide the Macbook in from the top. Then I saw on Speck's website the Pixelsleeve and it looks really nice. Is it hard to get the MBA in it? What is the inside of the sleeve made out of. Can anyone post some good pictures of it? I can order it off Amazon.com for $22 shipped with a $10 credit I have so I could save $23 if I take the Incase one back. I just wanted to get some impressions of it before I did it. Thanks.
I have a thread started about that sleeve for the 13" Air. I was looking at the TrimSleeve or the PixelSleeve Air. I was trying to decide which one to order. Judging by the pictures on the website and the way the air sits in the sleeve, it looks like the Pixel doesn't fully cover the air? I'm not sure. I ended up ordering the TrimSleeve. I really didn't want a neoprene exterior.

Unfortunately, Apple ditched their development on ZFS, so no ZFS love for the Mac Pro and OS X.
If you chose FreeBSD or OpenSolaris, there is little point in buying a Pro in the first place as you can get better boxes for less for that kind of requirement.
Funny thing, as I am running ZFS as we speak on my Mac Pro and several servers.
If you clicked the link I provided you could even download it and install it in Mac OS X ;)
Also ZFS is returning big time for Mac OS X come June/July with a full up-to-date implementation of ZFS, called ZFS-410 by Ten's Complement LLC (http://tenscomplement.com/).
Ironically, one of the engineers behind ZFS-410 was the technical lead behind the original HFS+ filesystem and one of the persons porting ZFS to Mac OS X until Apple ditched it. You can find a good read about it here (http://arstechnica.com/apple/news/2011/03/how-zfs-is-slowly-making-its-way-to-mac-os-x.ars)

For which system?
Also the reason for the M rating should be listed on the game. Your parents can decide what they think is appropriate for you based on the content, and not just the rating. If they are worried about you seeing nudity or sex, then you should stay away from Bioware games.
There is nudity in Bioware games? I've seen the illusion of sex, where they "do it" but you don't see a thing, and no nudity (Mass Effect, DAO)

I loved my Zune until MS took forever to fix the issue on W7x64 so I got an ipod instead about 15 months ago... I prefer the Zune software though since I like everything album/artist based with pretty images rather than itunes. :)
Since then I started using media monkey bc I hate itunes, but had to install it for my ipad.
Either way MS marketed the Zune poorly and took too long to fix stupid issues like "HEY I CAN'T SYNC FROM MY ZUNE TO W7!"... ugh

I had just been hired to work at a large foundation two weeks prior to September 11. Since I was living in San Francisco at the time and the foundation was across town, I had to get up pretty early to make the two bus transfers that would get me there by 9am.
My alarm was set for 5:45am Pacific (8:45am Eastern), so I was waking up right as the first plant hit the WTC. At the time, I listened to one of those stupid morning DJ shows - "Sarah and Vinnie," and both were kind of off-the-wall almost every day. So after a song ends, Vinnie breaks in and reports that a plane just hit the WTC and makes a crack about bad piloting. A couple more songs play, and the 6am news update hits. In the meantime, I had rolled out of bed and popped on the TV to see what was happening - sure enough, there was a gaping hole in the top of the WTC on all networks.
With the 6am news droning on in the background on the radio, I turned up the volume on the TV - as I was doing so, I caught the second plane hitting the WTC live as it happened. Suddenly, from the radio I heard Vinnie (who was always kind of a numbnutz) scream "oh, *****, a second plane just hit the other tower, I just saw it on TV!" At which point both Sarah and Vinnie stopped talking for a second, and one of them said, "This is a lot more serious than it looks, that was no coincidence. I think all bets are off for today."
I got up and turned on CNN in the main room of our apartment and it really looked like all hell broke loose. I couldn't take myself away from the TV, but did call a good friend to tell him to, "wake the hell up and turn on your TV now!"
About 7:30 (when I was still in my bathrobe and should have been leaving to catch my first bus), my mother rang in on the telephone - apparently, my cousin, who was a NYC Firefighter was called from off shift to help with rescue efforts and my aunt was terrified. Got another phone call from work saying "don't come in today!" and stayed watching the tele until about 4pm.
Incidentally, my cousin couldn't be reached the entire day, so when the buildings collapsed the family feared the worst. He finally rang in sometime in the early morning Sept. 12 to say he was OK.
One of those days you remember every detail, that's for sure. Kind of like Challenger disaster when I was in 8th grade in NH and no-one knew what was going on.
[Edit]:
We'd just been in New York two years prior to 9/11. I'd recored the whole trip with my video camera. A short bit of it included the Trade Centre ... standing right at the bottom looking straight up.
I was living in NYC until Jan 1999 - went to three meetings and one government reception in the WTC buildings. The reception was at Windows on the World, the restaurant at the top of one of the towers. The views were spectacular...

Same VGA cable each time? How long? Old? New? Does the VGA cable itself work wih other devices as expected?
Could also be bad mini-DP to VGA converter.
Thankyou for the reply.
The VGA cable is integrated in the miniDP-VGA adapter, about one meter long. But i've tried with an apple adapter + VGA cable that i usally use with my PC, same problem... :( I tried on a Mbacbook pro 13' and there is no problem..
Sounds like that 9400m video card is crappy.. or at least mine.. :(
